Description for Basic PMC Workshop
Participants will explore the many methods of imprinting textures on Precious Metal Clay as well as learn to carve, fire and finish it. Working with simple tools, we will experiment with pinched, rolled and hollow forms and finishing techniques, plus fire the PMC to final pieces.
Description for PMC Ring Workshop
Learn how to make an unusual PMC wrap ring using a favorite piece of silverware. We will learn to imprint a design on a PMC ring, set cubic zirco- nia, onyx or turquoise stone, and use decorative punches with PMC sheet. After completing the ring, students will polish and oxidize it. Supplies to Bring: Favorite silverware piece, PMC toolkit, small favorite rubber stamps, and small decorative paper punches for design on ring. Materials in Kit: Pack of PMC3, 1/2 sheet of PMC Sheet, handouts, sand- paper, CZ and misc. stones. (must have taken Basic PMC)
Instructor
Merlene worked in a corporate environment for over 25 years. After years of taking art classes, with the help of “The Artist Way” workshop, took a leap of faith at age 56 to pursue a longtime dream obtain a degree in art and teach it. Certified by Tim McCreight, nationally known metalsmith to teach Precious Metal Clay in 1999.
